Santa, in the house you actually live in

Most Santa videos online show a generic living room that could be anywhere. A "Santa in my house" video is different: it starts from a photo of your own home, so the tree your family decorated, the rug, the stockings, and the armchair by the window all stay exactly where they are. Santa appears inside that space as if a camera in the corner had recorded him.

That familiarity is what makes the moment land. Children recognize their own room instantly, and adults notice the small details — the ornament you hung last weekend, the cookie plate on the coffee table — that no stock clip could ever include.

Which rooms work best

You can use almost any room in your home, as long as Santa has a natural reason to be there and some space to move:

  • Living room with the tree — the classic choice, and the starting point for the Gifts under the tree and Santa says shh scenes.
  • Fireplace wall — perfect for the Chimney arrival scene, where Santa steps out of the hearth and brushes off the soot.
  • Kitchen or dining table — ideal for Cookies and milk, where he stops for a snack before moving on.
  • Hallway or entryway — works when there is a tree or decorations in view and open floor in front of them.
  • Front door or porch — use the Doorbell visit scene for an outside view; see our Santa doorbell video page.

Bedrooms usually work less well, because the scenes are designed around shared family spaces where Santa would deliver presents.

Taking a photo of your house that works

The photo is the most important ingredient, and it only takes a minute to get right:

  1. Tidy the area a little, but do not over-stage it. A lived-in room looks more believable.
  2. Turn on the tree lights and a lamp. Night footage looks best when the room has a warm light source.
  3. Stand in a corner or doorway and hold your phone in landscape, roughly at the height of a shelf. This is where a real home camera would sit.
  4. Make sure no people or pets are in the shot.
  5. Leave open floor between the camera and the tree, fireplace, or table so Santa has room to walk.

Upload the photo on the home page generator or right here on this page. The generator shows which kind of photo suits each scene.

Picking the night Santa visits

Your video carries a timestamp overlay, and you choose the date: any night from December 20 through December 25. The default is Christmas Eve at 23:47, which is the moment most families want, but you can change the time too. That is useful if your children open presents on a different day, or if you want the clip to show that Santa arrived late, after everyone was asleep.

The timestamp ticks forward as the video plays, and each scene shows a camera label such as LIVING ROOM, so the footage looks like it came from a camera in that room.

From preview to finished video

After you upload your photo and pick a scene, you can see a free preview: a still image that shows Santa inside your room, with a watermark. It is a quick way to check the framing and lighting before you spend anything.

When you are happy, unlock the full video. It runs for about 15 seconds and usually takes 3 to 8 minutes to generate. You can close the page while you wait; we email you when it is ready. Every paid video includes one free remake, and a failed generation automatically returns your credit. Prices and packs are on the pricing page.

Your home photos stay private

Because this is a photo of the inside of your home, privacy matters. Your uploads and finished videos are private to your account and are not added to any public gallery. Unpaid photos and previews are deleted after 3 days, original photos are deleted 7 days after the video completes, and you can delete a video or your whole account at any time. The full details are in our privacy policy.

Ideas for using your video

Families use their Santa in my house video in different ways. Some play it on the TV on Christmas morning before the presents are opened. Some keep it as a keepsake to watch again next year. Others send the share link to grandparents who live far away. If you have young children, our page on AI Santa videos for kids has suggestions for revealing it gently.
