How one photo becomes a Santa video
You only need a single image to make a Santa video. When you upload a photo of your home, we use it as the anchor for the whole clip. First, Santa is placed into your photo to create a preview image, so you can see how he fits in your room. When you unlock the video, that image becomes the first frame, and the scene is animated from there: Santa moves through your space while the camera stays fixed, just like footage from a real home camera.
Because everything starts from your photo, the layout, furniture, light, and decorations stay consistent from the first second to the last. That is the difference between a video of Santa in your house and a generic Christmas animation.
What kind of photo to use
The best photos share a few traits:
- A clear subject. A Christmas tree, a fireplace, a table, or a front door gives Santa a reason to be there.
- Open space. Leave some floor between the camera and the subject so Santa can stand and walk.
- Landscape orientation. Turn your phone sideways; the indoor scenes are widescreen and the doorbell scene is 4:3.
- No people or pets. The video should include only Santa and your room.
- Natural light or lamps. A gently lit room converts well into night-time footage.
- The right file. JPG, PNG, or WebP, up to 5 MB. Most phone photos are well within this.
Matching your photo to a scene
There are five scenes, and each one works best with a particular kind of photo:
- Gifts under the tree — a photo that shows your Christmas tree.
- Cookies and milk — a living room or kitchen table.
- Chimney arrival — a fireplace.
- Doorbell visit — a front door or porch, ideally from where a doorbell camera would sit.
- Santa says shh — a Christmas tree or living room.
The generator shows the recommended photo for each scene and gives a hint if your photo looks like a mismatch. It will not block you, but a good match makes the biggest difference to the result.
Step by step
- Take or choose a photo of your home.
- Upload it in the generator on this page or on the home page.
- Pick a scene and the night Santa visits: any date from December 20 to 25. The default timestamp is 12-24 at 23:47, and you can change the time.
- Look at the free, watermarked preview image.
- Unlock the video. It is about 15 seconds long and usually takes 3 to 8 minutes to generate.
- Watch, download, or share it from your account. We email you when it is ready.
If the result is not quite right, every paid video includes one free remake.
Photos that do not work well
Some photos make it hard to produce a believable clip:
- Screenshots or images from the internet. Use a photo you took of your own home.
- Photos with people in them, including family portraits in front of the tree.
- Blurry or very dark images. If you cannot see the room clearly, neither can the AI.
- Extreme close-ups where the tree or fireplace fills the frame.
- Collages, heavy filters, or text overlays.
If you are not sure, upload the photo and look at the free preview before paying.
Pricing and what happens to your photo
Previews are free. Videos are sold as one-time packs: $7.99 for one, $16.99 for three, or $12.99 for one HD video. There is no subscription. If a generation fails, the credit is returned automatically, and you can request a refund for unused credits within 14 days of purchase. See the pricing page and refund policy.
Your photo is private to your account. Unpaid photos and previews are deleted after 3 days, and original photos are deleted 7 days after the video completes. Details are in the privacy policy.

Why one photo instead of a video upload
It might seem that uploading a video of your room would give a better result, but a single, sharp photo is actually more reliable. A still image gives a clean, steady starting frame with no motion blur or camera shake, which is exactly what a fixed home camera would see. It is also quicker for you: one photo, taken in a few seconds, is all the generator needs.
